The trail

For many years, the Vivere Slow association has nurtured the idea of creating a trail in a portion of the territory of Contessa Entellina, in the province of Palermo. The plan is to restore ancient paths —some of which are no longer used— connecting the town center to the historic Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco, and to create a route accessible to everyone. The opportunity came with a call for proposals published by GAL Valle del Belice, to which we applied.

We then began exploring the area until we created a trail that expresses the beauty of this corner of land, which still preserves one of the few natural forests in Sicily.

The trail is approximately 15 km long, with various rest stops, fountains to refresh yourself, and shaded areas for resting. We have created a printed map showing the main points, as well as a digital map that can be used for independent navigation along the trail.

A rest area has been built, equipped for relaxing and perhaps enjoying the wonderful local products, and at the beginning of the trail, a “territory library” where you can find information about the neighboring municipalities.

The trail’s logo echoes that of Vivere Slow.

The meaning of the itinerary’s logo

The itinerary’s logo reflects the association’s goals: a return to the origins to discover beauty. It summarizes a 15-year journey of experimentation in and for the territory, highlighting the return to the origins. Itinerari i Bukuris expresses the third key word identified by the association: beauty. Indeed, the logo features a small path leading to ‘beauty,’ representing the trail itself.

The symbolic path of the trail

Within the trail’s logo, you can notice a small path that represents the journey towards beauty, a voyage of discovery back to the origins.

A Unique Journey: The Beauty Trail

The Beauty Trail is an extraordinary experience offered by the Vivere Slow association, which has spent years restoring the ancient paths between Contessa Entellina and the Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco. Stretching approximately 15 km, the trail features multiple stops with fountains, resting areas, and shaded spots for relaxation.
